The TRAIL OF TREATS Story

The TRAIL OF TREATS Story

The Tale of TRAIL OF TREATS

A small child lives in enchantment, where faery tales, adults’ lies, and imagination are one and the same. In the borderland between the real and surreal.

There are wonderful worlds to wander and dark corners to fear. Because the fair folk are really not our friends, and sweet treats in the forest are best left alone.

This album is for the nerds who will never be cool. Who escaped to fantasy worlds through the portals of cult movies, books, and funny-shaped dice. Whether those nerds are young or old, for yesterday or for tomorrow.

Album Inspirations

To the well of grim Slavic folk tales, the Witcherverse of Sapkowski, and my own ghost-haunted childhood.

The music draws from what Trey heard as a kid – cimbalom spy movies, folk-rock phasers, the hidden-in-the-open CR-78, and chord changes from a world very different to today’s. The terrifying psychedelia of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine movie. The bizarre worlds of kids’ TV shows and music. The nighttime woods and rubble beach and dark-windowed houses on the edge of town.

Yet TRAIL OF TREATS isn’t nostalgia for the past, it’s nostalgia for a place that never was.

Distribution

As Trey despises social media and streaming, this album is only available on Bandcamp.

TRAIL OF TREATS is out 24 May 2024.
